Big Brother Protector
Summary: Raph promises to always be there to look out for his little brother
Christmas was just a few hours away and the excitement inside the Hamato home was palatable. Master Splinter had put all of his sons to bed early and Leo, Raph, and Don had all fallen asleep right away. Mikey however was still wide awake.
He was excited that Santa was coming tonight. It made him feel like they were just like the human children that lived on the streets above the sewers. They had enough differences between them and humans that it was nice to have something the same as them for a change.
Laying in bed next to his brothers Mikey did his best not to wiggle around too much for fear of waking them up. At five years old they shared a bed because of lack of space and because it kept them warmer through the winter months than they would be if they were sleeping in their own beds.
Mikey had just begun to settle down in the bed so that he could fall asleep knowing that Santa
TMNT - T-Tots - First WordThough they were all very close in age, Mikey was clearly the youngest. He had taken the longest to fully develop. He was the last to learn to learn to walk and the only one of the turtle brothers that had not yet said his first word.
Splinter worked hard with each of his sons, teaching them simple words and phrases they used on a regular basis. Things like: Thank you, please, hungry, tired, messy, sorry, and daddy; among other small words.
The other turtles caught on quickly, and were using these words often. They knew when to say each word and how to say them. They ran around the lair proudly proclaiming their new words for everyone to hear…everyone being Splinter and his turtle sons. But as the others ran around naming everything in the room, Mikey sat in the corner. He tried to talk, but he couldn't make himself say them. He was stuck with syllables. He lived in the world where he communicated with “ba” and “ga.” Splinter had become fluent in that lan

Mikey stood in the doorway of the dojo and watched as Splinter led Leo, Raph, and Donnie through their katas. His arms were crossed over his plastron and he was rubbing his hands up and down his biceps.
Seeing his family train was a reassuring experience, it reminded him of the things they did together before his kidnapping. He had been invited into the dojo to join them but that invitation had caused an uneasy knot to form in his gut and he had found himself incapable of moving past the dojo door when they were training.
A gentle smile crossed his features as he watched his brother’s move in their weaponless spar. There was just something wonderful about seeing his brothers and es

Training was something that should be taken very seriously as far as Leo was concerned. It was a time for them to practice their skills and prepare themselves for whenever they went topside to make sure that they would all come home alive. It was not a time to be goofing off.
Raph was of a slightly different opinion. He knew that their skills as ninjas were what kept them alive in battle and that practice was how they kept those skills sharp. That didn’t mean that he was a fan of Leo’s style of teaching when they were having their afternoon practice.
They had already been in the dojo for about two hours and Leo didn’t seem like he was about to be slowing down anytime soon. Part of that Raph knew was due to the fact that he had been late to the beginning of practice but that wa
